2025: A Pivotal Year for Vietnam’s Renewable Energy Sector

2025 is poised to be a transformative year for Vietnam’s renewable energy landscape. As highlighted in Eco-Business, our Managing Director, Thomas Jakobsen, shares his insights on the regulatory advancements made in 2024—some of the most significant progress he has witnessed in his two decades of experience in Vietnam.

At Indochina Energy Partners, we are proud to see our early 2019 projections on the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) materializing. We continue to play an active role in supporting DPPA implementation, contributing 400–500 MW of clean energy to Vietnam’s national grid.

We support a DPPA charge of approximately 2 US cents per kWh, which we view as a fair and essential step towards long-term, sustainable development. Setting the rate too low could risk destabilizing EVN’s financial foundation and, by extension, Vietnam’s broader economic trajectory.

As Vietnam accelerates its energy transition, 2025 will be a year of critical developments.
